my tought on ORV

Spoiler for ORV

For those who aren’t familiar, ORV is a Korean webcomic that tells the story of Kim Dokja, a middle-aged man who has been a devoted fan of a particular novel for eight years, ever since high school. This novel, which combines themes of apocalypse, mystery, and dark comedy, has developed a significant following over time. To say that it is popular would be an understatement.

Initially, the first few chapters had nearly 300 views. However, after the first 100 chapters, the view count dropped significantly, with only Kim Dokja and perhaps one or two other readers remaining. By chapter 200, Kim Dokja was the sole reader left. Ironically, "Dokja" in Korean translates to "sole reader" or "only child."

Examining Kim Dokja's past reveals that he didn't have a happy family life. His father was an alcoholic, and his mother tried to protect him from his father's abuse until she ultimately snapped and killed him. Little Dokja was terrified at the thought of his mother going to jail for her actions, which led him to face bullying at school for being the son of a murderer. The situation worsened when his mother published a book detailing their life, exposing the abuse she suffered from her husband and her reasons for killing him.

In a twist of fate, Kim Dokja finds himself sitting on a subway when he suddenly realizes that the story he has been reading is coming to life. A creature from the narrative appears right in front of him. How will Kim Dokja survive in a world he once only read about? What will be his reaction upon seeing his favorite character come to life? And what about the other readers from the beginning—were they as fortunate as he is? He can’t be sure.

I assure you, the story is incredible, especially regarding its characters, plots, twists, and mysteries. The characters are beautifully written, and I can't help but express my admiration for this story and share how much I love it.

Big Spoiler. The game has an open ending that continues in the side story.
